The Whitehouse Kennels Terms and Conditions

Vaccinations and Veterinary Issues

To comply with our terms, dogs must have been vaccinated and be up to date with annual booster(s) to protect against:

    • Canine parvovirus
    • Canine distemper
    • Infectious canine hepatitis (adenovirus)
    • Parainfluenza
    • Leptospirosis

We also recommend vaccination against kennel cough. This should be administered a minimum of 10 days in advance of the boarding period.

Cats must have been vaccinated and be up to date with annual booster(s) to protect against:

    • Cat flu (feline herpesvirus and feline calcivirus)
    • Feline enteritis (feline panleukopenia virus)
    • Feline leukaemia virus

Primary vaccination courses must be completed at least 2 weeks prior to boarding. Sorry, but we do not accept pets reliant solely on homeopathic vaccinations.

All animals must have been treated with an anti-flea/tick product such as Frontline and also with a wormer such as Drontal at least 7 days before boarding.

The Whitehouse Kennels will need sight of, and to make a copy of, each animal’s vaccination certificate. If you do not provide proof of an animal’s upto date vaccination record on or before arrival we will be unable to accept your pet although the full boarding fee will still be payable. You are welcome to email us copies of vacination certificates prior to arrival.

It is important to inform us if you have a bitch in season or due to come into season during the boarding period. It’s nothing we can’t deal with; it just makes life easier if we know in advance.

Sorry, but we do not board unneutered male cats more than six months old.

Payments

We will require a deposit to confirm your booking. Deposits should be 20% of the boarding fee or £20, whichever is the greater. If the total cost of your booking is less than £20, the deposit should be the full cost of the booking. Your deposit is refundable within 7 days of payment (for any reason whatsoever) except within 7 days of the start of your booking. Outside this period, deposits are non-refundable.

All fees must be paid on or before arrival.

We do not yet take credit or debit cards therefore all fees are payable either in cash or by cheque.

Your bill will be calculated based on the number of nights your animal is with us. We make no additional charge for an early check-in (i.e. before 12:00 noon). No charge will be made for the day of check-out so long as the animal is collected before noon.  Collections after 12:00 noon will be charged as shown below:

Please make cheques payable to “The Whitehouse Boarding Kennels”.

Exercising Dogs

Normally we will exercise the dogs boarding with us and, depending on the dog and its temperament, this may involve socialising with other animals. Please let us know if you do not wish us to exercise your dog in this way.

We usually exercise dogs both on and off our premises. You will be asked to provide consent for us to walk your pet off our premises.

Aggressive Dogs

We do not accept aggressive dogs. If a dog becomes excessively aggressive towards our staff or other dogs, or destructive to our facilities, we will continue to do our best to provide for its basic wellbeing. However, such animals may be restricted to their kennel and in extreme cases the owner may be contacted to arrange for collection of the dog. Additional charges may apply.

Dangerous Dogs

We do not accept banned dog breeds for boarding, i.e. any dog listed under Section 1 of The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. This exclusion also extends to those with an exemption certificate. Additionally, we will also exclude any dog which we judge may be one the listed breeds unless the owner can provide suitable written proof that it is not.

For the avoidance of doubt (as of January 2024) the following breeds are listed under Section 1 of The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991: American Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro, American Bully XL.

Abandoned Animals

If an animal is not collected within 15 days of its departure date and no communication from the owner or their agent has been received and our efforts to contact the owner have failed, The Whitehouse Kennels reserve the right to treat such animals as having been abandoned and to take the necessary steps to have the animal removed from our premises and dealt with appropriately. The animal’s owner will be liable for any additional expenses incurred.
